- Any organic claim must be supported by the USDA Organic Seal. This seal can only be used by products that have been certified organic by a USDA approved agency. To be certified organic, a company must go through the rigorous process of audit and inspections. Every 479° Popcorn product is 99-100% certified organic.
- The USDA Organic Seal is given to products that contain at least 95-99% organic ingredients. The remaining ingredients are usually not available organically but have been approved by the National Organic Program (NOP). These products bear the USDA logo. Fleur de Sel Caramel, Chipotle Caramel + Almonds, Ginger Sesame Caramel, Black Truffle + White Cheddar, Alderwood Smoked Sea Salt, Pimentòn de La Vera = 99% organic.
- The USDA Organic Seal will bear the words “100% Organic” if the product is made with 100% organic ingredients. Vietnamese Cinnamon Sugar and Madras Curry Coconut + Cashews = 100% Organic.
- The “Made with Organic Ingredients” label indicates products that contain at least 70% organic ingredients. These products cannot bear the USDA Organic seal, but can list up to 3 ingredients on the front of packaging by stating “Made with Organic ___”
- Products containing less than 70% organic ingredients cannot use the phrase “Made with Organic Ingredients.” These products can only list organic ingredients on the information panel of the packaging.
- Claims of “Natural”, “All Natural”, and “100% Natural” are not subject to specific government controls, with the exception of meat and poultry. Consequently, products made with dodgy ingredients such as high fructose corn syrup and additives like sodium lactate can freely use the terms “Natural”, “All Natural”, and “100% Natural” on their packaging.
Every 479° Popcorn product is USDA certified organic by NutriClean. That means that all of our popcorn flavors are 99-100% organic.
